Made in Chelsea star Cheska Hull was among the celebrities who enjoyed
a day of champagne and socialising at Elemis Polo at the Manor
The second staging of Elemis Polo at the Manor was a sell-out success as more than 2,500 people enjoyed a glamorous afternoon of sporting action.
A sprinkling of showers failed to put a dampener on proceedings at The Celtic Manor Resort as around 1,000 hospitality guests quenched their thirst with Pimm’s and Jacquart Champagne before enjoying a three-course lunch in a huge marquee and adjoining private pods.
Even more spectators lined the other three sides of the polo field and tucked into delicious picnic boxes as they watched two fast-paced and absorbing exhibition matches organised by the prestigious Cirencester Park Polo Club.
The Voice’s Jaz Ellington kicked off the entertainment with a powerful set before Team McLaren Birmingham took the honours in the headline polo match, which featured several internationals including New Zealander Tom Hunt and former rugby wing Tom Beim.
Performing the MC duties on the day was S4C presenter Sarra Elgan, who was accompanied by her husband, the Scarlets head coach Simon Easterby, and other celebrities attending included Made in Chelsea star Cheska Hull and TV personalities Zoe Hardman and Zoe Williams.
Rugby legends Gareth Edwards and Jonathan Davies also took time out from the golf courses where they can normally be spotted at Celtic Manor, to take in an afternoon watching the Sport of Kings.
As well as watching top-class polo, guests also participated in the traditional half-time polo custom of ‘treading the divots’ between matches. With ladies braving a chill breeze to show off their finest summer outfits and gents looking their most dapper, winners of a best-dressed competition sponsored by Capital FM were Danielle Richards and Alex Powell.
Dylan Matthews, Chief Executive of The Celtic Manor Resort, said: "
The day's second match was won by Team Crouch who saw off the challenge of Team Lewis and Lewis by six goals to four.
A fun family day out also included a Polo Village with bars and food outlets, a Kids Zone including Boulders Climbing Wall, and the chance to sample spa treatments aboard the unique Elemis Spa Bus.
